LAHORE: Shia cleric Allama Nasir Abbas of Multan was shot useless by unknown armed men late on Sunday night, DawnNews noted.
Allama Nasir, a leader of the Tehrik-i-Nifaz-i-Fiqa Jafria, was in Lahore for the earlier couple of times to carry out Majalis.
He was heading to his home soon after attending a Majlis in Shah Jamal when armed motorcycles intercepted his motor vehicle in close proximity to FC School Underpass and opened fire.
Abbas was severely hurt in the attack and was taken to Sheikh Zayed Medical center. Even so, he succumbed to his accidents. Other occupants of the automobile which includes his good friend, college student and driver survived the assault.
Condemning the killing of Shia cleric, Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen has introduced a few days of mourning.
A spokesman of Majlis Wahadatul Musalameen stated that the federal government has failed to quit sectarian focused killings.
In the meantime, Tahafuz-i-Azadari Council in Karachi also condemned the killing and slammed the govt for failing to protect Shias in the country.
